‘Telugu Short Film Awards’: Celebrating the Spirit of the Young Filmmaker

Telugu Short Film Awards — TSFA2021

“Filmmaking is a chance to live many lifetimes.”

- Robert Altman.

Science says that the human brain is hardwired to respond to visual stimuli. Poetry coincides with that fact — they say a Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. It is not surprising then that the ongoing cultural shift in communication has transformed from texts and speech to visuals and films.

Images and Films have the power to be memorable, impactful, and create a difference in society that words seldom can. Not only do these help the masses to know what transpires around them — locally, nationally and even globally — but also help them move forward towards aligning their own selves with more of their kind. There is one more purpose that this Mode of communication serves — it speaks for those who can't speak for themselves. It voices those subjects that are commonly overshadowed by the burden of societal norms.

This precise thought fuelled a mission and prompted Kalaraj Media and Entertainment in the year 2018 to initiate a unique short film festival known as the Telugu Short Film Awards (TSFA). The purpose was to help young latent talent in the Telugu Film Industry to spread its wings and disseminate information about subjects that must be displayed on the global screen — in the way they want to say it.

Goes without saying, a noble cause every year, their event grows larger and more elaborate year after year.

A well-cared seed grows its roots stronger than an ox and provides valuable oxygen and shade to everyone around it. Telugu Short Film Festival does the same with the current generation of enthusiastic short filmmakers by giving them access to a platform that gives them a chance to showcase their work of art.

This eminent event is at the forefront of identifying talents, accepting their films as entries, showcasing their films, and honouring them with the awards and recognition they deserve.

“If it can be written or thought, it can be filmed.”

- Stanley Kubrick.

Telugu Short Film Festival has gained recognition and fame throughout India as one of the most transparent film festivals. It inspires the technical crew and cast to go to the next level in their careers. There are many film festivals in India, but the Telugu Short Film Festival is unique in that it was founded by a passionate team of filmmakers, advertising experts, and media professionals, and it is also organized in the most creative way.

The organizing committee of this event follows this novel and interesting approach called 5-I where they invite celebrities for interacting with young minds. They include the best short films and screen them during the film festival. Rewarding the filmmakers with awards and rewards, they motivate this new generation to perform impeccably in their field. They implement world-class standards with every event and initiate a unique platform for short filmmakers.

This year was anything but normal for all of us. But for the new-age filmmaker, it was an opportunity in disguise to re-discover and reinvent. Telugu Short Film Festival is appreciating this indomitable spirit by nominating some of the meritorious films in their festivals within various categories such as short films, Web series, Musical songs, and Independent Films.
